Oxfordshire based Gwen Lawler and her husband work in the entertainment industry and run a production company from their home.

Their work involves frequent business trips, which are often arranged at very short notice. They have been using the services of national home and pet sitting company Homesitters Ltd since 2008 to look after their pet dog and cat, Bilbo and Baggins, when they go away.

Prior to this, they had used another home and pet sitting company but had not been impressed with them.

Gwen came across Homesitters as a result of an online search, and when she called them she was struck by the company’s professional service and approach. The Lawlers booked Homesitters the next time they went away and everything went so smoothly they have used them ever since.

They find the company’s rigorous vetting procedures for homesitters very reassuring. They also like the fact that new homesitters come to their home for a preliminary meeting, before the assignment is underway, so they can get to know them, introduce them to their pets and talk about how their home runs. This ensures that they feel comfortable leaving them in charge.

Gwen commented, “As my husband and I work from home our pets are used to us being there all day, so companionship is very important for them when we’re away. I wouldn’t put them in a kennel and cattery as it would be too much of a disruption – Bilbo prefers the company of humans to other dogs!

“I believe that using Homesitters is money well spent to give our pets stability, and it’s also reassuring to know that the house is occupied too as there have been several burglaries in the local area recently.”

“I would absolutely recommend Homesitters,” says Gwen, “Nothing is ever a problem for them, everyone in the office is so efficient and helpful, and we can rely on them to provide a homesitter at the eleventh hour if needed. All the homesitters we have met have been very competent - warm and friendly people who genuinely like animals.”

“We live in the countryside and as Bilbo is a Border Collie he needs lots of exercise. In the winter it gets muddy so we need someone who doesn’t mind taking a muddy walk – and then hosing down a muddy dog when they get back! Homesitters always finds someone who fits the bill!”
