Homesitters Pet of the Month for June 2025 is this adorable Staffie American Bulldog cross Thor.

Here are a few words about him from his owner: "This is my beautiful boy – Thor. He was sold to us an American Bulldog, but I think his mummy strayed with a local Staffie as he has more of a Staffie head than other AmBulls. He turns 7 in August and weighs in at 45 kilos and is made up of raw muscle, power, love and cuteness.

As I am Danish, I felt he had to have a suitably Scandinavian name. I pronounce his name with a hard “T”, ignoring the “h”, but he responds equally well/badly to both names.

Thor loves cuddles on his sofa, going for walks, sleeping on his sofa but what le loves most in the world are… RABBITS. We live very rurally and have an abundance of rabbits on our 5 acres which keeps him on his toes. In fact, he will chase anything: deer, birds, cats, mice, rats, voles and the list goes on. He is quite good at hunting and, despite his size, does manage to catch the rabbits.

He is not easy to train as he is not that interested in food or treats. He does do SIT and SHAKE and has learnt that the new sofa is a Dog Free Zone ???? and he needs to stick to his own 3-seater!

As we are now on our own, having lost my husband and our 2 other large dogs, we are attached at the hip and, sadly, he will not tolerate another dog in the house. During the winter months when he can sit in the car, we go everywhere together, the summer months are less favoured by him as he has to stay at home. He is not the best guard dog in the world, but at least he looks the part!
