One of the loveliest things about a staycation in the UK is that we get to bring the most pampered member of the family along with us; our dogs always add to the fun and joy of a break, though they do mean that there are a few extra logistics to cover. And while many self-catering cottages and countryside hotels are well-equipped to cater for our four-legged-friends - with walks on their doorstep and acres of grounds - when it comes to a city break, finding dog-friendly hotels can feel likely a slightly bigger task.

This boutique hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge offers your pet nothing but the best five-star service. Dubbed the VIPs (Very Important Pets), dogs at The Egerton House Hotel are treated like royalty, with their own pet concierge to ensure they arrive in style to an arrival message, embroidered towel, food and water bowls, toys, treats and, of course, a complimentary turn down treat.
On booking, you'll receive a form for you to mark down your pet's preferences, and they'll even get a chance to pick their very own dinner from the pet-friendly menu. A stay here will seriously raise your dog's standards - don't say we didn't warn you.
8. Town Hall Hotel, Bethnal Green
While humans are greeted by the friendly staff here, dogs are welcomed in by the Town Hall Hotel's own rescue pooch: Dizzy the greyhound, who is on hand for an impromptu play whenever the need arises.
As well as a host of facilities for four-legged guests (including a sausage breakfast, dog-walking map and accessories), the hotel also boasts a swimming pool and restaurant that attracts Bethnal Green's trendiest residents, as well as hotel guests.
