Burglaries often increase during the summer holidays as thieves take advantage of people being on holiday.

According to insurance firm, Ecclesiastical[i] 43% of burglaries are committed when a property is empty and with many people holidaying during the peak months of July and August, it’s easy to see the opportunities there are for a would-be thief during the summer.

An empty home is an irresistible target for a burglar so it’s in important to do all you can to protect your home.

Whilst there are simple ways to reduce your risk of being burgled this summer, such as not advertising you are away on social media, and creating the impression someone is in with lights set to come on in the evening – one of the best ways to keep your home safe is to employ someone to stay in your home.

Employing a homesitter is a great way to ensure your home is looked after whilst you are off enjoying your holiday.

Our professional homesitters are required not to leave a property unattended for more than three hours at any one time, so their presence can give your peace of mind your home is safe and occupied when you are away – the best deterrent for any opportunistic thief.

It also means any pets you may have can also stay at home as our homesitters are able to look after a whole range of pets too.

All clients meet the homesitter prior to assignment so they can brief them on the home operates, when to put the bins out and how to work any security systems.

This meeting is especially important if you have pets as the homesitter will need to know their usual daily routine, and for dogs and cats it always helps that they have met the homesitter before they arrive for the assignment.

It’s also a useful time for introducing them to any neighbours so that they don’t get a surprise when they see someone in your back garden whilst you are away.

So if you are busy planning your summer holiday and don’t want to leave your home empty, get in touch now on 01296 630 730 or click here to book your homesitter.
