Who will look after my pets during the summer holiday?

Pet Sitting Services whilst away on holiday

It’s estimated that 12 million households or 46% of the UK population[i] has pets. That’s a lot of homes with pets that need looking after when people go on holidays this summer!

Whilst some people rely on family and friends to step in, what happens to the pets if this isn’t an option?

Or in a case like Vivien and Tony Dance, who live on the west coast of Scotland, when they have a pet that becomes distressed when it’s left up to a neighbour to just pop in and feed her?

Many people turn to Homesitters Ltd to find a homesitter who will live in their home and look after their pets. This arrangement ensures minimal disruption for the pets, that someone is there to keep them company and to also keep the home safe and secure.

This is just what Vivien and Tony Dance did and they have been clients of Homesitters Ltd for 18 months now.

Like many people they had an arrangement with their neighbour to pop in and feed their two cats, Bonnie and Clyde whenever they went away. This worked perfectly until sadly they lost Clyde.

The next time they went away and asked the neighbour to pop in and feed Bonnie they returned home to find Bonnie extremely distressed.

Vivien said, “It took some time to restore the balance after our trip and we were upset that Bonnie was clearly unhappy. It didn’t seem to matter that food had been put down twice a day, she had obviously missed our company or thought we had left permanently.”

“I remembered that good friends of ours used to work for Homesitters. They loved the company and we used to meet up with them if they were on assignment nearby, but that was about 25 years ago. However, I looked them up and was delighted to find the company was still going strong so we booked an assignment.”

“The couple who came to stay were wonderful and Bonnie was happy too so we booked them again for a ten day summer holiday. It gave us such peace of mind to know Bonnie was content.”

For most people leaving their pets when they go on holiday can be hard, but having a reliable and trusted person at home to take care of them provides the reassurance they are doing the best for them.

Homesitters Ltd has an extensive network of homesitters throughout the UK so if you are looking for someone to look after your pets this summer, please get in touch on 01296 630 730 to discuss your requirements.
