Why teachers make great Homesitters

The school holidays are the peak times for families to go on holiday and this is when demand for a Homesitter is also at its highest.

With a school year spanning 39 weeks of the year, most teachers have 13 weeks off every year – making them the ideal professionals to become Homesitters.

Whilst many of our Homesitters are retired or semi-retired, teaching is one career that can work well alongside Homesitting. This year, we’re looking to recruit some great teachers who would enjoy spending some of their holidays looking after our clients’ homes and pets.

Not only would they get the chance to explore the UK, they could stay in different locations without the expense of staying in hotels, whilst looking after people’s pets and homes. It is a job that also allows plenty of free time for lesson planning, marking and prepping for the year ahead.

We all know that teaching can be stressful, so becoming a Homesitter could provide the chance for some rest and relaxation in beautiful surroundings. Our assignments are often set in gorgeous country houses or in stunning, contemporary city centre flats – so there is something to suit every taste.

Whilst the primary rewards for taking on the role are non-financial, our Homesitters do get modest remuneration to supplement their income.

Our Homesitters are not allowed to take children, pets or friends on assignments so the role is suited to older teachers or those without any dependents.

Homesitters must therefore be able to leave their own home for a few weeks at a time during each assignment. This could be from one week up to a few months depending on the client’s requirements.

Both singles and couples are encouraged to apply as many of our Homesitters enjoy home sitting as a couple.

So if you are an animal loving, teacher looking for a fresh challenge that can be combined with your day job, please get in touch as we are currently looking for dedicated and professional people to become Homesitters.

Our website has lots of information on what is involved and if the role appeals, you can call our recruitment team on: 01296 630 730 to start the application process.
